Joy of Giving Something Fellowship 2026 for International Students:

Applications are invited to apply for the Joy of Giving Something Fellowship 2026. All International students are welcome to apply for these undergrad fellowship programs. The program’s specific goal is to assist students whose family and economic situations make certain career paths especially difficult. The Joy of Giving Something (JGS) Fellowship, which is designed for students just like you and is run in partnership with Imagining America (IA), is now accepting applications for its 2025–2026 cohort. Enhancing photography and digital media as professional options and enabling undergraduate students to impact their communities are the objectives of the IA/JGS Fellows Program.

The JGS Fellowship is a nationwide platform for undergraduate students who use digital media and photography as instruments for social change, in addition to being a scholarship. The program, which was created to assist students from economically and socially disadvantaged homes, gives them the resources, connections, and guidance they need to direct their careers and involvement in the community.   • From October 3–5, 2025, go to New Mexico State University (Las Cruces, NM) for Imagining America’s National Gathering. Free registration and assistance with travel are provided.

  • Online Application Form
  • Certificates and transcripts of study
  • Three samples of your work that show off your creative process and your proficiency with digital media and/or photography;
  • A federal, state, or school financial aid report for the 2025–2026 school year that demonstrates financial need
  • A reference letter from a member of the faculty or staff of your undergraduate school or a community group you are connected to.
  • A 500-character biographical statement.
  • How your objectives are met by this program (750 characters).
  • Your justification (750 characters) for utilizing digital media and photography in public service.
  • Concepts for a group project in the community (1000 characters).

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for the Joy of Giving Something Fellowship 2026 for international students, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Be undergraduate students presently enrolled in or supported by a cultural organization or institution that is a member of Imagining America (IA).
  • Work in digital media or photography.
  • Show financial necessity, creative merit, and community involvement.
  • Be receptive to joint initiatives that tackle actual community problems.
  • Note: While students from all majors and backgrounds are welcome to apply, first-generation college students are particularly encouraged to do so.

The last date to apply for the Joy of Giving Something Fellowship 2026 for international students is 14th July 2025.

How to Apply for Joy of Giving Something Fellowship?

Based on an examination of the application materials that were submitted, the following factors are taken into account throughout the selection process:

  1. Evidence of creative talent:
  2. Evidence of an established community-engaged practice;
  3. Proof of financial need as shown by the Student Aid Report (SAR) and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA), or by records from an official government or institution that can be verified; and
  4. Status as a first-generation college student. Although first-generation college students are not the only applicants for the IA/JGS Fellows Program, they are strongly encouraged to do so.
