HIIG Impact AI Fellowship Program 2027 for International Students:

Applications are invited to apply for the HIIG Impact AI Fellowship Program 2027 in Germany. Applicants in academia, journalism, civil society organizations, public institutions, and businesses that wish to look into the broader effects of AI technologies may find the fellowship especially pertinent. The fellowship will be for ten weeks, from August 16 to October 22, 2027. In addition to training, research supervision, and the chance to contribute to a published case study, chosen fellows will receive a €5,000 stipend for the program. Also, apply for European Parliament Schuman Traineeships 2027 (Fully Funded).

The Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) in Berlin, Germany is currently accepting applications for the Impact AI Fellowship 2027, which asks you to investigate that subject through a practical case. The ten-week fellowship takes you through an evaluation of an existing AI application and into lead authorship of a case report instead of concluding with classroom exercises. That combination provides a useful reason to apply for journalists, researchers, or practitioners who wish to go from talking about responsible AI to looking into its consequences.

Additionally, an opportunity is made to accommodate some current obligations. A large portion of the work can be done remotely, but you will need to make time in your calendar for the two weeks of the Berlin workshop and advance planning.

The fellowship is a component of HIIG’s Impact AI research project, which has created a systematic approach to evaluating the impact of AI systems. The project collaborates with Economy for the Common Good (ECOnGOOD) and Greenpeace Germany. Instead of concentrating only on artificial intelligence’s technological capabilities, the initiative looks at how certain AI applications impact the environment and society.

The Impact AI Method will be used for a practical AI use case for fellows. Preparing and conducting interviews, analyzing data, assessing possible effects, and creating a final evaluation report are all part of their job. Participants will work with fellows from other fields and receive direction from the Impact AI research team.
