Eligibility Criteria:
- Scholars working on international projects pertaining to global democracy are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have completed a PhD no more than three years prior to the fellowship’s commencement and may be from any nation. (Note: PhD program graduates from the University of Notre Dame are not eligible to apply.)
- Those with a PhD or comparable degree in a social science field will be the most competitive applicants.
- According to US immigration regulations, a person cannot return to the US in the J-1 Professor or J-1 Research Scholar category until they have been out of the country for at least 24 months if they have completed a stay of less than five years as a J-1 professor or research scholar and do not have another appointment immediately after the end of said stay. The two-year home residency criterion that some scholars must meet is not the same as this 24-month bar.
