Excellent early career postdoctoral researchers who exhibit scientific excellence, research independence, and a good aptitude for teamwork—all of which indicate great potential for a successful academic career—make up the target group.

The Zukunftskolleg at the University of Konstanz is currently taking applications for four postdoctoral fellowships. The Zukunftskolleg provides postdoctoral researchers with worldwide contacts, intra-university integration, interdisciplinary and intergenerational exchange, and independence for their research. Be especially mindful of those page limits: if the motivation letter, research proposal, or writing sample is longer than allowed, the application may not be accepted.

Additionally, applicants are asked to consider how their research relates to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals in their motivation statement.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Your PhD award date is the primary eligibility criterion. Normally, your PhD should have been awarded between September 30, 2024, and October 1, 2026.
• In cases when your academic career was disrupted by pregnancy or paternity leave, or by employment outside of academia, earlier PhD dates may still be recognized.
• Applicants must not have a permanent position as a professor
• Applicants must not have a habilitation or comparable Venia legendi
• Applicants must make a research proposal related to a field represented at the University of Konstanz.
• Applicants must be open to residing in Konstanz or its environs.
• Applicants must engage in active participation in the interdisciplinary community at Zukunftskolleg
• Applicants having experience in conducting research or teaching abroad is advantageous rather than strictly necessary.
