About the Young Leaders Council USA
Young Leaders Council USA is a group of young people who are interested in increasing mental health awareness and making a difference using their leadership and advocacy. In addition, the program spurs participants to develop creative projects that will help tackle the mental health issues of young people.
Fellows attend leadership workshops, mentoring and team building activities throughout the program. This means that they acquire practical skills and at the same time they also develop good professional networks. Eligibility Requirements for Mental Health America Young Leaders Council
Applicants must:
- Be between 18–25 years old.
- Show evidence of leadership experience in youth mental health, employment or financial health.
- Attend monthly virtual meetings September 2026 to May 2027.
- Be prepared to work on a team capstone project.
- Be interested in advancing solutions to improve youth mental health and economic opportunity.
What Will Young Leaders Council Members Do?
Over the nine-month term from September 2026 to May 2027, selected members will:
- Participate in monthly, 90-minute virtual meetings.
- Interact with professionals and practitioners in youth mental health and in employment.
- Recognize and encourage policies and practices that foster youth health and employment.
- Collaboratively design and implement a capstone project.
- Speak and attend the Mental Health America Conference in Washington, D.C on October 8-9, 2026.
- Display their work and insights in Mental Health America’s national network and partner organizations.
