Young people may have a particularly compelling reason to apply for the 2026 UN Youth Townhall in Heidelberg, Germany, if they have never had the opportunity to participate in a significant area of UN policy. In order to help a select group of young people between the ages of 18 and 35 attend the inaugural Townhall in person from December 8–10, 2026, the UN Youth Office has opened a call.

Building on the Secretary-General’s Policy Brief on Meaningful Youth Engagement, which emphasized the significance of boosting meaningful youth participation and advocated for the creation of a permanent United Nations Youth Townhall to bring greater diversity of youth voices into the Organization’s work, the UN Youth Townhall addresses the growing need for more inclusive and meaningful ways for young people to participate in decision-making.
