A fully funded international forum for young changemakers worldwide is the IUCN World Congress in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This forum aims to connect young innovators and leaders working in their communities to develop and implement cutting-edge solutions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), biodiversity, and climate. From October 9–15, 2025, Abu Dhabi will host the Congress.
The IUCN World Congress is the largest gathering of scientists, conservation professionals, policymakers, and corporate leaders in the world, and it brings people together to promote environmental action. It offers a forum for audacious pledges, creative fixes, and collaborations across sectors to tackle the most urgent environmental issues of our day. Young entrepreneurs and innovators will be highlighted at the Congress, giving them a chance to network with world leaders, share ideas, and work together on groundbreaking solutions that promote revolutionary change for both people and the environment. - Delivering on Equity: Making certain that conservation initiatives are fair, inclusive, and focused on local communities, women, youth, and Indigenous peoples.
- Transitioning to Nature-Positive Economies and Societies: Changing from extractive to regenerative economic models that preserve livelihoods and repair ecosystems is known as the “transition to nature-positive economies and societies.”
- Disruptive Innovation and Leadership for Conservation: Using new technologies, creative governance structures, and fearless, inclusive leadership to upend the current quo and promote systemic change in conservation.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be considered as a changemaker at the IUCN World Conservation Congress, you should:
- Are between the ages of 18 and 35.
- Have proven leadership and expertise in creating and carrying out creative solutions and state-of-the-art environmental action projects in the areas of biodiversity, climate change, nature protection, and/or sustainable development
- are presently engaged in an environmental action initiative or creative solution that relates to one or more of the topics of the IUCN Congress.
- Candidates are especially encouraged to submit if their projects promote intergenerational cooperation, equity, and/or inclusivity and/or if they use a rights-based approach in their planning and execution.
