Eligibility Criteria:
International students who are interested in applying:
- International students who are refugees are eligible.
- international students who have children under the age of twelve are welcome to apply.
- International students who are caregivers can apply.
- International students with disabilities (with a degree of disability of at least 50 according to the German system), International students with chronic illnesses that could negatively impact their academic performance
- Have acquired their admission requirements to pursue higher education overseas are not presently German nationals have Been enrolled in Freie Universität Berlin on a regular basis to pursue degrees (Bachelor, State Exam, Master); PhD
- Students and exchange students are not eligible for these scholarships.
- Have consistently attended classes at the institution (on average, candidates must have successfully finished at least one course per semester; if they are enrolled in their first semester, they must attend at least two courses). These scholarships will not be given out based on academic standing.
- For the duration of the scholarship’s funding period (March 1, 2026–December 31, 2026), applicants must be enrolled at FU Berlin.
Please keep in mind that other scholarships and/or work-related income may be considered when establishing the scholarship amount. You may be eligible for additional financing up to the full scholarship sum of 861 euros per month if you receive another scholarship from public money. Scholarship recipients who work part-time are limited to a monthly total of 1,311 euros (from scholarship and gross additional income).

How to Apply for Free University of Berlin DAAD Scholarship?
- Every applicant needs to fill out the online application.

- Both German and English are accepted for applications.
A selection committee made up of representatives from the following departments chooses scholarship applicants based on their online application and in-person interviews:
- Support for International Students,
- Center for Academic Advising and Psychological Counseling,
- Student Mobility Unit,
- Counseling Service for Students with Chronic Illnesses and Disabilities
The selection committee will contact the chosen candidates for an interview at the start of February after considering all online applications. There will also be interviews in February. Those who are invited to the interview will be required to submit further supporting paperwork.
