Types of Scholarships:
1. Application Pool 1: Based on Bilateral Agreements
Citizens of nations with bilateral agreements with Croatia can apply for these scholarships. Scholarships of the following kinds are available:
- A1: Four to five months of Croatian language instruction.
- A2: Undergraduate or graduate students’ semester or partial study (4–10 months).
- B: Complete 36- or 24-month undergraduate (BA) or graduate (MA) coursework.
- C1: 36 months of full PhD studies.
- C2: One to ten months of research or partial PhD studies.
- D: Research or postdoctoral study (one to ten months).
- E: Postdoctoral research visits that last three to twenty-nine days.
- F: Two-week summer seminar on Croatian literature and language.
2. Application Pool 2: Scholarships for Learning Croatian Language
Regardless of bilateral agreements, students studying Slavic studies or Croatian language and literature are eligible for these awards. There are the following varieties available:
- A1: Four to five months of study for Croatian language learners.
- F: Two-week summer seminar on Croatian literature and language.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Croatian Government Scholarship Programs 2025 in Europe:
- Candidates (for Application Pool 1) must be nationals of nations with a current bilateral agreement with Croatia.
- For most scholarships, a minimum of two semesters must be spent at the home university.
- MA programs require a bachelor’s degree, PhD programs require a master’s degree, and postdoctoral research requires a PhD.
- Proficiency in Language:
- A minimum of B1 proficiency in Croatian is required for Croatian language programs.
- For other programs: Depending on the program, proficiency in either Croatian or English.
- A minimum of B1 proficiency in Croatian is required for Croatian language programs.
- Maximum Age:
- 30 years for those pursuing a BA, MA, or PhD.
- There is no upper age limit for applicants to language programs and postdoctoral scholars.
