The NHFP does not pay for college tuition; instead, it offers paid employment-level research support. Salary assistance and perks, along with a reimbursement for travel and other research expenses, are confirmed by the official program.

• Financing for research-related expenses and professional trips;
• A one-year initial appointment that may be renewed up to twice a year;
• Experience conducting independent research at a qualified host institution in the United States.
• For each host institution in this call, NASA has not released a single public pay amount. As a result, applicants should refrain from depending on unofficial stipend estimates. The successful fellow’s host institution administers the funding, which is contingent upon NASA funds being available.

Eligibility Criteria:

• If you have a recent PhD in astronomy, physics, or a similar field and are an English-speaking researcher of any nationality, you can apply.
• The study must be carried out through a qualified U.S. host institution, although the fellowship is open worldwide.
• Before beginning the fellowship, you must have completed all doctoral prerequisites or achieved your PhD on or after January 1, 2023.
• You must have a PhD in physics, astronomy, or a similar discipline.
• You have to choose and justify qualified U.S. host institutions.
• Prior to starting the appointment, you must be able to finish the PhD.
• It is not possible for current or previous NHFP fellows to reapply.
• International candidates are welcome to apply; however, receiving a fellowship offer does not waive immigration laws in the United States.
• For the duration of the fellowship, non-US recipients must acquire and keep a valid visa. Visa application, renewal, and legal fees are not covered by NASA fellowship support.
