The 8-week, fully funded Frontier AI Security Residency 2026 will be held in the UK and will bring together gifted individuals to collaborate with top mentors in the area on cutting-edge AI security and hardware verification challenges. Participants will support practical research initiatives aimed at safeguarding cutting-edge AI systems. There will be about 10–15 residents for the hardware and applied tracks in the fall of 2026, for a total of about 30.
AI security and verification is a developing topic, and development is hindered above all by the scarcity of qualified individuals working on its issues. As frontier AI becomes a subject of international accords, state actors will require credible mechanisms of verifying one another’s actions, and much of that infrastructure has yet to be constructed. Our residents will work directly with proven mentors on real-world, urgent problems in both the cyber and hardware concentration areas.
